The Condemned
WWE wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin stars as a death row inmate who gets a rare second shot at life in director Scott Wiper's action thriller.
Jack Conrad (Austin) is a dangerous convict awaiting execution in a Salvadorian prison. "Purchased" by a wealthy television producer and transported to a deserted island in the South Pacific along with nine other condemned criminals (similarly purchased from prisons around the world), he is offered the opportunity to avoid capital punishment and win back his freedom by fighting to the death in an illegal game to be broadcast uncensored over the Internet.
Breckel (Mammone), the producer, is aiming for ratings that equal or beat the latest Super Bowl. Unfortunately, as the program begins to broadcast one of the condemned dies accidentally. As the broadcast progresses, FBI agents discover Conrad's real identity as Jack Riley, a former special forces operative who was captured on a secret mission to El Salvador and request assistance to locate and stop the broadcast. Conrad's girlfriend becomes aware of the situation and watches the progress of the show. McStarley (Jones) and Saiga (Yamaguchi) team up to remove the competition, while Rio uses her wiles to remove others. Eventually Conrad is left alone against the duo. Only one is left alive.
As awareness of the graphic nature of the program increases along with its viewership, law enforcement and the military locate the island where the show is being filmed, pressuring Breckel to flee. Order among the film crew breaks down, as McStarley arrives to claim his prize. After McStarley kills all the crew, he gets caught by Conrad while menacing Julie, a reporter interviewing Breckel. Conrad shoots him after brief dialogue. As Breckel is escaping in his helicopter, Conrad catches up and destroys it with McStarley's ankle bracelet. The epilogue shows Conrad as a free man, arriving at his Texas home.
